of The MGA is a grassroots organization of over 3,000 Massachusetts teachers dedicated to improving geography education in the Commonwealth. It is one of the 50 state alliances affiliated with the Geography Education Program of the National Geographic Society. The MGA sponsors conferences, workshops, summer institutes, and Geography Awareness Week in the state. The Alliance disseminates geography material, and helps to support the State Geography Bee. Many of the MGA's activities are conducted through its six Regional Service Centers at Salem State College, Framingham State College, Bridgewater State College, Clark University, The Five College Center for East Asian Studies, and the Winchester School Department. The MGA also coordinates training efforts with the state Global Education organizations and others interested in promoting geography education.
